Community

Mike Riggan knows the value of hard work and helping others. As one of 18 children, Mike learned the importance of teamwork and cooperation. And as a proud Vietnam Veteran — and father of an Iraq veteran —he knows firsthand about duty and honor.

When Mike founded TanTara Transportation Corp., he knew his company would provide outstanding service and Iowa hospitality. But he also wanted to give back to the community that first supported him. That’s why TanTara is a proud supporter of many local and state organizations, near and dear to our heart, including:

  • American Cancer Society
  • American Diabetes Society
  • Boys Club of St. Louis
  • Boy Scouts - Pack 54
  • Cub Scouts
  • Farmer & Hunters Feeding the Hungry
  • Freezin’ for Food: This campaign helps our local Salvation Army feed families the whole year through. Each year TanTara donates the exclusive use of our "equipment" to collect and store food items for the food drive.
  • Fruitland Volunteer Fire Department
  • Hospice of Central Iowa
  • Iowa Special Olympics
  • Iowa Spirit Squads
  • Legends of Iowa Youth Football Camp
  • Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
  • Muscatine Chamber of Commerce
  • Muscatine Charities, Inc.: This local agency takes donations and divides them among 25 local and nationwide organizations.
  • Muscular Dystrophy Association
  • National Child Safety Council
  • Youth Sports Foundation
  • WWII Honor Tour

TanTara volunteered a truck, trailer, and driver to bring donated items from the Muscatine community to Houston as part of their Hurricane Harvey Relief Effort. These donations went to those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

TanTara helps send WWII Veterans to see their war memorial in Washington D.C.

TanTara supports veterans through the WWII Honor Tour. Each four-day trip begins with a formal sendoff.

Our own Roger Howell, retired Facilities Director, attended the WWII Honor Tour in May 2009. Diane and Tara Riggan attended as chaperones.
